Chef Chris shares her Fruit Quesadilla Recipe!
Recently, Taher’s Chef Christina made a visit to our school to make a special treat for our students. She made Fruit Quesadillas, an easy-to-make healthy snack. Students were able to sample the finished product at lunch, and they loved it!
The great thing about this recipe is that it is easy, made with ingredients which households may already have, and it’s versatile. Chef Christina mentioned that you don’t have to follow the recipe exactly as written; if you have other fruits around, experiment with them. Fresh berries are great in the summer – just slice them and layer them onto the cream cheese (no added sugars are necessary). Also great would be any jam, jelly or pie filling you may have in your pantry. She also added that you should try peanut butter, nut butters or sunflower butter if you don’t like creamcheese…the possibilities are endless. The main thing is to get the kids thinking about healthy snacks, and get them into the kitchen with mom or dad and start cooking!!
